Summary

The paper provides the first systematic mapping of Queensland’s health workforce (HWF) policy documents, drawing on 275 policies retrieved from publicly available databases. We identified critical patterns in policy distribution, including profession-based siloing, dominance of employment-focused policy, and limited emphasis on system-level strategic planning. The paper offers a novel contribution to the health workforce literature in Australia by documenting not only the volume of policy activity but also the misalignment between policy types and strategic health system needs.
