Health Workforce Policy

The aim of this repository is to provide a complete picture of current HWF policy goals and strategies in Australia’s multiple health programs and jurisdictions. This is foundational to identifying policy strengths and weaknesses and enhancing clarity of decision-making.

A systematic search will be undertaken to source, code and cross-reference HWF policies and plans from federal, state and territory government websites, regulators, professional and industry organisations, and legislative databases. Documents will be categorised and coded to enable cross-referencing by jurisdiction, profession, program area, policy goal, strategies and responsible entities. Documents will be tagged to at least one major policy (sub)domain (supply, distribution, performance) enabling ease of comparison. Coded documents will be imported into a custom, open-access database, hosted initially by the Australian Institute for Tropical Health & Medicine (AITHM).
